In 1992 the Stockhausen-Verlag released a recording of the Europe Version 1972 of MOMENTE on CDs 7 A-B of the Stockhausen Complete Edition. In the text booklet of these CDs there are numerous explanations, photographs, form schemes, and graphics showing the order of the moments in various versions, explanations of the instruments used by the choir, about the percussion, and about the connection scheme.

The Version 1998 by the conductor Rupert Huber was performed for the first time on September 25th 1998 at the Philharmonic Hall in Cologne. It is slightly different than my Europe Version of 1972. The Europe Version began with the large I(k)-Moment (entitled “For love is stronger than death”) which lasts 26 minutes and 50 seconds; I(m), the Clapping Moment, was performed backwards immediately preceding the intermission, and following the intermission, the Clapping Moment I(m) was performed forwards, and lasts 7 minutes, 37 seconds. The Version 1998 begins with the Clapping Moment I(m) and following the intermission, the I(k)-Moment is performed. That means that Part 1 of the 1998 Version lasts 40 minutes, 25 seconds until the intermission, and, following the intermission, Part 2 lasts 1 hour, 6 minutes and 26 seconds. This results in a completely different dramatic effect than the 1972 Europe Version which lasted 65 minutes, 56 seconds until the intermission and 46 minutes, 39 seconds following the intermission.

Also the difference between the two solo sopranos Gloria Davy (1972/73) and Angela Tunstall (1998) is especially fascinating.

The list of the CD tracks on pages 4–7 shows the order and durations of the moments and inserts of the 1998 Version. These durations always indicate the timing from the beginning of a moment until the next moment.

Therefore, the order of the moments is

Part 1 I(m) – DKM – DK (m) – D (d to m) – D (k) – DK (d) – DK – DK (k) – D – DM (k) – D (m) – DM – I(d) – KM – K (m) – KM (d) – K – KD – K (d) – KD (m)

Part 2 I(k) – MD – M(d) – MD(k) – M – MK – M(k) – MK(d) – M (m) – I

Since I have learned that one learns most through comparison, I have released both the 1973 recording of MOMENTE on CDs 7 A–B and the 1998 recording on CDs 80 A–B in the Stockhausen Complete Edition series.
