Since December 2006, the composer Stockhausen has been realising a new work, COSMIC PULSES, Electronic Music, in his studio in Kürten-Hachenberg. It was commissioned by the Dissonanze festival in Rome and Angelica festival in Bologna whose artistic director is Massimo Simonini.

The world première will take place on May 7th 2007 in Rome. The 8-track composition uses a completely new technique for the spatialisation of 24 sound layers in 24 x 8 = 192 tracks, which are programmed with computers.

At the end of March, two specialists from the Experimental Studio for Acoustic Art  in Freiburg will come to Kürten with special equipment. Stockhausen says that he has never dared such a risky production. He compares the experiment with the virtual job of synchronising the orbits of 24 planets around a sun, with individual rotations, tempi and trajectories.

COSMIC PULSES, 13th Hour of KLANG (SOUND) The 24 Hours of the Day, will have its German world première during the Stockhausen Courses Kürten on July 13th 2007 at the Sülztalhalle in Kürten.
