FREUDE (Joy) Excerpt - 7'08'' (15.7 MB Ouick Time Movie)
Dress Rehearsal - Stockhausen Courses Kürten 2006 (10 July 2006)
Marianne Smit and Esther Kooi, Harp

Note from Jim Stonebraker: During my a past visit to the Stockhausen Courses Kürten (July 8-16, 2006) I attended and
recorded every morning rehearsal at the Sülztalhalle. Stockhausen holds a dress rehearsal at 10 am to prepare for the
concert held at 8 pm the same evening. I personally find the morning rehersals the most exciting part of the Courses.
The joy of seeing Stockhausen work on his new compositions, up close with the performers is reason enough for any music
lover to attend the courses. Stockhausen's new KLANG works are completely different than anything else he has composed.

I recorded these performances on a MiniDV camera using a stereo condenser microphone.

Stockhausen-Verlag allowed me to record these performances for my personal use and study.

INTERVIEWS

Interview with Eric Salzman (1962 or 1964)

Note from Jerry Kohl - March 20, 2010

Hi Jim,

It has taken me a very long time, but I have finally tracked down the source of that Stockhausen interview with Eric Salzman, which Rod Stasick supplied
and you have put up as downloadable sound files at <http://www.stockhausen.org/salzman.html>. You may recall that I reported having heard a reel-to-reel
tape recording some years ago, which was held in the listening center at the UW music library. I've had no luck finding where that has gone, but I have come across
the archived listeners' magazine for WBAI-FM in New York, which has been digitized and put online at the Internet Archive.

To cut to the chase, this is actually the first of *two* 90-minute programs, broadcast as part of WBAI's weekly series, Music Forum, hosted by Salzman.
It was first broadcast on Friday, 20 January 1963, from 8:15 to 9:45pm. I think the recording Rod found has been shortened somewhat, perhaps only by
omitting music examples, since it runs 68:53 compared with the original program length of 90 mins.

The second part (which was largely about Momente) was broadcast on Friday 1 March 1963 from 10:00 to 11:30pm, in preparation for a broadcast a few days
later of the Cologne first version of Momente from 1962 (how I would love to hear *that* recording!).

Perhaps you will wish to update the information on the page with the soundfiles.
